Flashback Fridays

Since today is Halloween and I am finally to the point that I do not have to worry about having a costume for the kids I thought I would reminisce about when they were little. Cole's first Halloween
Isn't he the cutest little devil!
The Anderson family came and took Cole trick-r-treating around the neighborhood
Madison's first Halloween
She kept trying to take the hair off she did not like it touching her face
I miss them being this little. Now they can carve their own pumpkins and don't need our help. I want them to still need us! 20022003200420042005 (one of my fav's)2006

Haunted House

We took the kids to a Haunted House tonight for fun. Brett and I had no desire to go in so we just sat at the snack bar and waited for them to come out. Yes- I said snack bar--in my day I do not remember anything so fancy. Although I hated going to things like this they scare me to death so they could have had a snack bar and I just never noticed!
Waiting in line . . . Madison wasn't too sure about this it was however her idea to go

This guy followed Maddy around before they even got in and had her in tears. He was on stilts and was super tall but man could he run fast. He had fun chasing Madison around. Thank goodness she has such a brave and caring brother to protect her. He was trying to scare me on the outside fence so I took his picture and them he wanted to see it after. Thought that was kind of funny! When they came out they said this guy was the scariest part of the whole thing.

THRILLER

Madison and I had a great time at Thriller! What a fun production to see at Kingsbury Hall! We went with Brooke and Jayne. . . it was a mother/daughter day and I loved spending time with the ladies.Madison was a little freaked out by the zombie's crawling around on the chairs before it started. I wanted so badly to get a picture of her with one of the zombie's but she would not even look at them. They (zombie's) were never out of character, very well done!
I loved listening to her laugh throughout the show . . . she loved Jason's Jam, Sugarplum's Finale and of course Thriller! I enjoyed Dem bones and River of Blood Dance. The Chucky dance freaked me out a little I can not stand clowns they really frighten me! However there are very talented people out there and I can appreciate them!

After the show we went to the Pie Pizzeria for dinner. Brett and I had our first date there, brought back some fun memories. Maddy asked me why I didn't dump him after the date then she ate the pizza and never asked the question again :) I really enjoyed spending the day with Maddy I am so grateful for her! A special thanks to Jayne and Brooke for the invite!!

Great Aunt Mary

We found out that Brett's Great-Aunt Mary passed away last night. What a blessing for her she has been in hospice care for at least a year! She was a tough lady and just wasn't ready to give up yet I guess!
It has been years since we have seen her, she moved to Pennsylvania to live closer to her siblings and we have not seen her since. She used to spend months at a time up at Ratcliffe's so we were able to get to know her well! She is originally from Czechoslovakia and had a cute accent. . . she could not say her "R's" which was pretty entertaining! Brett's mom's name is Rose which always came out "Wose" LOL
She made awesome prime rib which I believe she passed the skill onto Brett's dad, which is now a traditional dinner at Christmas time thanks to her! YUMMY!! She loved that she was the first person to feed Cole a Popsicle!!Brett's family at his Granny's funeral. . . Rose had a rough month at this time she had just buried her only brother a couple of weeks before her mother it was nice to have Aunt Mary around!

Which Twilight Character are you?

I'm a Esme! I found out through TwilightersAnonymous.com. Which Twilight Female Are You? Take the quiz and find out!

I saw this on Abby's blog and thought it would be fun to do. (Abby I miss you, work just is not the same without you!) I bought my ticket for the movie I hope it will be good! There are still tickets available at the theater we are going to so if anyone wants to go just let me know. It is the 12:25 a.m. showing. I am going to be dragging butt the next morning at work!! Oh well- I will be with all my friends and family . . . time well spent I'd say!

I'm a Bella! I found out through TwilightersAnonymous.com. Which Twilight Female Are You? Take the quiz and find out!
Madison's result concerns me alittle. . . she marked she liked dangerous and complicated men. I have some reason to be concerned for when she starts dating. Wait- I know I will just lock her up and keep her safe. Good plan!! :)

I'm a Emmett! I found out through TwilightersAnonymous.com. Which Twilight Male Are You? Take the quiz and find out!

Cole was pretty happy with his results! He loves Emmett!

Brett was also Emmett so both of my boys are the same. . . . doesn't surprise me in the least they are so much alike!

Ta-Da

My room is finally done Yeah!!! (and no more poopie carpet!) It took us the majority of the weekend but I loved it. I have so much crap, I have had to either get rid of stuff or find a way to hide it. I do not want my room to be cluttered! My room feel so brand new! First few planks to go in

Brett busy at work. . .
the final product. . . I was so excited to get my desk back into my room I forgot to take pictures of the whole room. Oh well you get the idea!
Love it!
I am however afraid I may hurt myself with my chair. Now the wheels move so easily the chair is going to fly out from under me and I am going to end up on the floor :) Guess we will just have to see.
This is before we put the baseboards back down
My scrapbook/computer room
Brett even build me another shelf in the closet so I can put ALL of my photo albums together. (Well they can't all be together, I have them on shelves in 2 other rooms also. Yes- I have a ton of photo albums not to mention I have a ton of scrapbooks also)

Flashback Fridays

So once upon a time there lived a cute little girl named Madison who was at this time about 18 months old. One day while this beautiful little girl was taking a much needed nap the mom decided she had been asleep long enough and needed to woken up. As she peeked her head in the door she could not see Madison. Concerned the mom opened the door wider and there was this darling little girl using her artistic abilities ALL over the walls, carpet and bedding. Oh- did I mention she had no markers or paints? Yes this little lady had used all the resources she had available to her and had made a "crappy" choice!!! Needless to say the mom freaked out on her beautiful little girl but quickly got over it and had the carpets cleaned, washed the linens and washed the walls :( The family had only lived in their new house for 2 weeks so it was a very bad day in this house. Needless to say that beautiful little girl is growing up to be a beautiful young lady and no longer draws on the walls or takes naps and lives in the basement!

The reason for the story is this. . . I am finally pulling up the carpet that was in Maddy's room and could not be more excited about it. Since almost the day we have moved into our home I have wanted to change the carpet due to the situation mentioned above. We are laying laminate in this room (which is now my scrapbook room) I am so grateful Brett is skilled the way he is and can complete projects for me.

Just before pulling the carpet. . . I am so excited I can hardly stand it. I'll post the after when we are all done!

Flashback Fridays

We are flashing back to a time when Cole was a UTE fan! Obviously he had no choice in the matter but dang he looks good in RED!! Now he is a true blue fan the rest of the family remain faithful to the UTES! :)
this is one of cole's first steps

the family photo
Cole is free to choice whomever he likes, we support him in all his decisions.
We have UTE and BYU blankets in the house, it doesn't matter which one we are wrapped up in as long as it keeps us warm!

Family Home Evening

On Sunday after conference we went up to the Salt Lake City cemetery for our Family Home Evening with the whole family. A bit of a scavenger hunt if you will. We hunted for all the headstones of the prophets that are buried there. I had no idea how large the cemetery was. We definitely got our exercise in for the WEEK! They are scattered all over. I think they should have made a prophets row and it would have been more simple, but not as fun! It was interesting to see what people would leave on the headstones. Letters tattered by the weather, flowers, we even found a CTR ring. There were simple rocks someone had painted with the words HOPE, FAITH and LOVE on them. The girls thought it was fun to see what the next rock would say from one headstone to the next.

Only 11 of the prophets are buried in this cemetery. President Ezra Taft Benson is buried in Idaho, President Joseph Smith in Nauvoo, President Brigham Young is across from the church office building and President Lorenzo Snow is buried in Brigham city.

I was amazed at how some of the headstones were enormous and some just a simple reminder.
Not just our prophets but every ones! There are some huge makers in this cemetery and some very old an crumbling ones. The cemetery could use some work, the ground was so uneven we wondered if there were gophers or something burrowing underneath since there were holes all over that they had thrown some dirt in to fill up. I was afraid someone was going to fall and break an ankle.
While we were standing at Pres. Hinckley's grave all of a sudden Cole starts flailing his arms. He had got stung in the arm pit. It was crazy one of my nephews got stung in the head also. After we went back to my mom's and had dessert. YUMMY! I love spending time with my family!

A Successful Duck Hunt

Cole had a great time last Saturday on the opening of the duck hunt! The boys are looking forward to this weekend, the full fledged duck hunt opens this weekend Brett and him are getting ready! Livin' off the land. . . These are not my favorite things they bring home however this time we decided to make jerky out of the meat (cooking is not an option, it tastes like crap and we do not waste the meat) the jerky was gone in less then a half an hour the kids loved it!
YES the birds are DEAD! Sorry if it grosses you out!
