Some People . . .

are such IDIOTS!

I will now proceed with why I think this!
Last night Brett and I were chaperons for a church dance. We were excited to go since dancing is something we enjoy. side note: We FORCED Cole to attend in which he was not happy with us. I think he ended up having a good time in spite of not wanting to be there. Anyhow back to the idiots. Brett and I were manning our post not letting anyone in or out and making sure no one would sneak into a empty room. So from time to time one of us would get up and walk around (check on Cole) and come back to our post. At one point, Brett was wandering and walked past another couple at their post, they exchanged pleasantries and as Brett continued walking the women said "No Smoking". Brett continued on did a check on the dance and returned the same way. He then asked the lady what she had said previously, she replied "I said No Smoking" he then asked her "why on earth she would assume he smoked?" and she said "it's because you are wearing a gray shirt" Brett in turned replied "I guess everyone that wears a gray shirts smokes!" and walked off. Needless to say he was not happy with the exchange or the lady. Now, I must say we are in charge of whether we are offended or not and at this we were offended. Brett came from a good home with parents who love him and raised him to be a good man, they also have smoked his whole life and I am very proud of the fact that neither him or his sister have the same habit. For some idiot to make a comment like that to anyone regardless of their upbringing needs to remember that Christ would not judge people because of the color of their shirt. Brett has not had a calling in our ward so why does he have to wear just white. He wears white when it is appropriate he is not disrespectful of the teachings of our church!
There I have vented and I DO feel much better! By the way my son and my husband were both in gray shirts and looked great!!!!

Basketball, Basketball

Madison is having a great time on the basketball team! She is so dedicated. Early morning practices do not effect her . . . 5:00 a.m. rolls around and she is up and ready to get to the school on time. (she does need to learn to be not so chipper in the mornings I am still trying to sleep)

I am amazed at how aggressive the girls are, I don't think boys play like this. The Varsity team has only lost 1 game at this point and doing well. Maddy is on the JV team, it is such a learning experience for all of them. I think for a good portion of the team it is their first time playing the game, at least they are all learning together! ( I just have to say that sometimes the games are REALLY hard to watch. . . a no look pass. . . NO ONE LOOKS drives me nuts)

Valentines Day

I hope everyone had a nice Valentine's Day!

It is not a holiday I put much into. . . I feel that your loved one should not have a particular day to show you how loved you are I feel it is an everyday thing. As far as it being an excuse to get out and do something together I am all for that, however Brett and I tend to be homebodies and like to just be home together! (especially since he has been out of town lately)

For our FAMILY Valentine's experience: we cooked a prime rib for dinner and snuggled into watch "Nights in Rodanthe". It was a very enjoyable evening! As for the movie. . . Brett and I both enjoyed it. I had read the book which of course the book was better but, it was also a good movie.

Our Evil Plan

Not quite sure how Jake feels about our decision but we had him neutered over the weekend. He is pretty old to be having this done but we are hoping it will calm him down. He still acts like a puppy and he is 8 years old. We are not irresponsible pet owners by not having him fixed years ago, who knows he could have been a stud we just choose to never let him figure that part out. But now with the little puppy around we don't want any mishaps! :) He was sedated for surgery, so when we brought him home he was so calm. We have NEVER seen him so mellow I was hoping they gave us more medication to keep him like that however they did not!
We had him sleep in our room to keep an eye on him, it was like having an infant again I kept waking up to see if he was breathing ~ Crazy!
Brett and Jake spending some quality time . . . he is always on the run so this opportunity is rare!
We love playing with his ears they are so soft. When we left the animal hospital we were surprised how much energy he had, he must have really wanted to get out of there. He was taking Brett on a walk :)
Brett loves his dog even though he is out of control! Hopefully this will settle him down a little. The boys have to wait for him to heal before they can go out hunting again.

The Host

I have several books I have started and not finished. My goal for this month was to finish them. The Host was one Brett bought me and he was feeling bad I wasn't reading it. To be honest I was having the hardest time getting into it (I started it in December, Yikes). I had several people tell me how much they liked this book more than Twilight so I kept trying to read. I was told you needed to get past so many pages and then you would start to understand and enjoy. I am positive I was further into the book than I should have been when the book finally had my attention. And then I finally finished it. I did enjoy the book and I am glad I read it as far as it being as good as Twilight. . . It was such a different book you can not compare the two. Now on to the other books I am having a hard time finishing :)

"Konnichiha" Spencer

"Okaeri" - Welcome home Elder Dunn!
I really don't know if that is the proper way of saying welcome home in Japanese but it's the best google could help me with! We are so happy to have one of our missionaries home we have been blessed having him serve. He has been such an example to our family and we are grateful for his service! The kids with Spencer
I am amazed at how much my kids have grown in the past two years

Challenge

****tagged by. . . several****
Go to the photo folder in your computer
Go to the 6th folder of photos
Go to the sixth picture
Put the picture on your blog and description of it. Invite six friends to join the challenge

Ok- first of all I have so many different folders of pictures on my computer it is ridiculous since I am in the process of scanning every single picture I own (which will take my a very long time. . . those who know me know why, I take WAY too many) :)

This picture is from the early 80's. These are my two oldest nephews who I absolutely adore! I became an Aunt at the ripe ole age of . . . 8 One of my favorite things to hear is "Aunt Jane" I love the title but most importantly I love every single one that calls me that!! (yes- "MOM" did become the BEST thing to hear but this is right there with it!) I have numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and love it. Brett was a little overwhelmed when we started dating with all the little kids around (he came from a family of only a sister) but he loves and cares for each of them as well. I hope they ALL remember the many sleepovers at Aunt Jane's and Uncle Brett's.

I tag Charie, Hollie, Shantai, Krystyn, Aubree, Tiffany and Stacey

I know there is more than 6, they are my family members who blog :) Cool huh?

Ladies Night Out/In with . . .

my work ladies. We (at work) decided we do not see each other enough and need to spend an evening a month together. We are going to get together and learn or do something new each time. I work with the best ladies around and I really enjoy getting together with them. We have so much fun at work but it is even better outside of the office. Did I mention that the ladies I work with are not just my co-workers they are my friends!
This month we decided to get together and organize our recipe books. Cooking is certainly not our favorite thing to do but if we look organized then maybe our spouses will think we know what we are doing in the kitchen (maybe secretly we are hoping if the book is well organized the men will take over and do the cooking. . . I know this will not happen in my home but here's to wishing!) I made Navajo Taco's for dinner. When we are together we never eat a yucky meal. Ok so we are always eating but at least it is something good!
Tanya and I exchanging recipes
"Oh- Ya that's the one"
Organizing our recipe books
More of the sharing of recipes
We all modeled our recipe books after Kasey's . . . she is our inspiration
Jayne and Tanya
"This is a great recipe Kasey you should try this one"
"oh- your right I think that one is better"
Shocking isn't it? The recipe was right there in front of us. . . Silly us :)
Tanya. . . Do NOT make this for dinner Just a few of us from work (sorry Janae we took the cheesy pictures after you left)
We have a blog for recipes we use. Kasey started it a while ago. . . if we would get her the recipes she might be able to update it more often. Check it out

The Twilight Zone

Over the weekend I attended a Twilight "Book Club" where we discussed the books in great detail. We also reviewed & critiqued the movie, which I must say we were harsh! :) What a fun evening we had. There was a lot of themed Twilight stuff. . . popcorn buckets, cookies, cake and of course Edward himself making an appearance. Thanks to the ladies who put this together it was a lot of fun! Can you believe how much work went into this cake? The lady who made this did a great job . . . by the way it was red velvet cake

Edward answered the door as we all arrived. . . Not sure when the dollars showed up but he was a hit among the ladies~

Twilight crazed fans!
I learned so much from these ladies, they knew tons of info about . . . Twilight! One of the ladies has even gone to Forks and taken tours
Madison had a lady in our ward make her this Twilight sticker for her wall.
So we hung it over her bed. . . .her room is very Twilight themed. Who didn't have a poster of a hot guy hanging up in their room? I had MacGyver . . . he was such a hottie. and for those of you who do not know who he is you are truly missing out . . .the man was extremely resourceful, who favored brain over brawn in order to solve desperate problems. MacGyver's main asset is his practical application of scientific knowledge and inventive use of common items. (just had to throw in the picture)
