Mission Accomplished!!!

I have created some tasks I HAD to have done before today (Monday) and I wasn't sure I was going to get them done but, with a lot of persistence I did it!

  • Paint bedroom wall with Temple paint - DONE

  • Not enough painting . . .Paint the rest of my bedroom walls - DONE

  • Add more to plate. . . . paint bathroom while I'm at it - DONE

  • Paint all baseboards and trim white - DONE

  • Switch out old lightswitches with one I bought months ago - attempted to do by self - impatient husband does them instead - DONE (Thanks Husband!)

  • Oh yeah - don't forget the doors need to be painted as well (4 -grr) - DONE

  • Paint baseboards in the rest of the upstairs - DONE

  • Wash the blinds in bedroom and put back up so I am not on display for the neighbors to watch- DONE

  • Pull up carpet to make all the painting easier - DONE Thanks Brett and kids!!

  • Find places for and move all furniture out and back without breaking anything fragile etc. - DONE (well almost we have to have some muscle come and help with the big stuff)

  • Sit down and Blog, take ten minutes for self - Working on it!

  • Rehang all doors - DONE

  • Clean up after self EVERY time I paint - DONE

  • Fix family meals . . . try to maneuver through ALL the furniture in the kitchen . . . for go trying that - just eat out it's easier! - DONE

  • Have carpet laid upstairs - DONE

  • Ugh - Just remembered I have to paint one more door - I'll get to it later! :)
  • Vacuum our new carpet and enjoy! - Doing it!

I am so excited to have accomplished all of this. It may not seem like a lot but my legs are sore from up and down on the ladder and my arms should be big and bulky from all the painting I have done lately! I am so grateful for my gallon of paint from the temple . . .Its amazing how much work one little gallon of paint can create. I keep telling Brett. . . .I am making our house a HOME!

Saved by the Principal and the Shop Teacher

Madison had quite the mishap at school on friday. You would have thought it was the end of the world!

Her Flip-Flop broke!
She texted both of us in a panic and needed one of us to come right then and bring her new shoes to wear. Yep- cause I can do that and so can her dad. NOT! I did however try to get her some help but Grandma was unavailable as well.

Shortly after she called me at work to TELL me her flip-flop had broken. . . Umm - had we not already had this discussion texting? Anyhow I again let her know I would be unable to run all the way home grab some shoes, run them to her and then hurry right back to work.

So there I am at work worrying about her walking around the school with no shoe, feeling like mother of the year, concerned she may have to walk home without a shoe and feeling helpless!

Madison calls me again, this time from home (school is out) and lets me know all is well! While she was in the office calling me the Principal saw her dilemma and went in search of some help. She enlisted the shop teacher who in turn put a screw through the bottom of the toe thingy (?) and sanded it down so she would not slip and off she went for the rest of the day. Shoe is very much in tack and probably wearable for who knows how long.
So a big THANKS. . . to a Principal who cared, and a shop teacher with the knowledge he needed to help a panicked little girl!

No more Tin Grin

Madison's first day of school held an exciting day for her. I had to check her out slightly early so we could make it to the Orthodontist on time. Yep- time for the braces to come off. She ended up being one day shy of 18 months.I am so pleased with the results and so is she! She had a major headache when I picked her up from school so unfortunately she had a two hour appointment she had to endure. But I think it was worth it!

So worth it!!! She loves to smile . . .

First day of School 2009

The kids started back to school yesterday. Ahh. . . Actually I miss having them home. They didn't wake up until noon anyhow so it was like they were hardly here!
Cole started his Sophomore year Madison started the eighth grade
I forgot to take a picture of them together on the first day so I got it the second day with a lot of resistance from Cole. He did not want to go back out side a second day in a row. . . what if someone saw him. I am looking forward to this year of school for the kids, such exciting times in their lives!

Finally. . . Cole can sorta drive :)

Cole was in no hurry to get his "learners permit". They are able to get is when they are 15. He was all excited about getting it until right after his 15th birthday and then nothing. I have told him we were doing it this summer and he of course has put it off as long as possible. Last week I TOLD him to get the book read and be ready I was taking him on Monday. He would read on and off, not real dedicated. I made Monday an all day "Cole" day. We started off the day at the high school changing classes which took 2 hours of just sitting on the floor until it was finally our turn and then he didn't want me to go into the counselor with him :( He went and mowed his grandparents lawn. Then we were off to the Driver's Licence Division. He was petrified. When we arrived I had forgotten his "original" (no wallet copies are acceptable) birth certificate. So back home we go and grab the required papers (Cole grabbed his book for a quick refresher course- I know he didn't finish the last couple of pages until we were in the car). Headed back and got back in line. We waited for at least 2 hours and then his number was called. He seemed very confident but I know inside he was scared to death. about 20 minutes later he was sitting down to have his picture taken. Passed the first time and boy was he proud. There were two people around him that got caught for cheating on their test. Doesn't that make you feel great, people have to cheat to get a licence and they are out there driving. UGH! First attempt at the test and he walks out with a permit . . . the people in front of our car were walking up as I was taking the picture and said "better stay off the sidewalks now".
No sooner did we get into the subdivision and he was ready to drive
Not his first time driving we have given him numerous opportunities but now he thinks he needs to drive everywhere. Um- not yet! I am letting Brett take this chore on, I had birth he gets drivers ed I think that is a fair trade!
Madison riding with him driving. She shows absolutley no concerns right?

Cole's Road Trip

Some of our friends invited Cole to head up to a Colorado Rockies game with them. Cole's team the Rockies were playing the Chicago Cubs which happens to be our friends FAVORITE team so it was a good time for both of them. They were able to attend two games and had a great time. Cubs won the first game

and the Rockies won the second game!

What a WeiRd Day. . .

Today could not have been a more bizarre day! First it starts out with having to go to work. . . working away on patients. I hear some strange noises coming from the next room and blam. . . there is a patient spewing in the sink (at least trying to hit the sink). Now this is not a common occurrence at the dentist I know that sounds weird since we do gag a lot of people, but not very often do we have someone throw up. Poor Jayne, (the other assistant- I am not talking in 3rd person) it took her over an hour to clean up her room. I was going to help her but I just about made a bigger mess for her so I stepped out of the room and let her have the pleasure of cleaning it up all by herself. I thought I was being considerate? After we finished with patients Jayne and I took a walk to the local Maverick for a drink I thought she deserved a Coke and a smile! While we were sitting there enjoying our Cokes we had another adventure. One of the assistants passed out during a procedure and we needed to tend to her until she felt better. Thank goodness she did not hit her head, the other doctor was quick and grabbed her. I shared my Coke with her after we got her feeling better because I think a good Coke just about solves most problems.
So all is well now, just another adventure at work. Sometimes I really think we need to write a book about all the different things that happen. I think it would be rather entertaining!

Date Night

We have no kids this weekend, which for the kids I'm sure it has been nice! So it ends up being just Brett and I in a very quite house. hmm. . . we do miss the kids!
Brett thinks Amy Adams is cute, I needed a distraction from life, so we headed out to see this movie. We really enjoyed the movie and thought is had some funny stuff! It was worth seeing especially since it cause me to forget about things I am worrying about! Nice distraction! The best part of the day was spending time with Brett, sometimes life is going so fast we do not take the time to just hang out and talk about nothing important! Of course we ate, I had a second attempt at Cafe Rio and actually enjoyed what I got. (simple, yet yummy!) Those who know my "Rio" story know why this is not my favorite place. he he

Ladies Night Out . . .another farewall dinner :(

It's that time again when someone we work with has to leave. Lindsey, who works for the other doctor in our office, is moving to Las Vegas. Her husband was accepted to law school so off they go! Even though we have 2 doctors in our office and we are completely different practices us girls get very close. We are like family and it is hard to see someone leave!
To send her off we headed up to Italian Village for pizza benders. YUM! If you have never eaten there (which Linds hadn't) I suggest you make your way there. DELICIOUS! Kayley, Malisa and Kasey
Tanya, Jenni and Jayne
Janae, Lauren, "LINDSEY", me and Kamie
Our crew- we are missing two of our girls. Yes it is a lot of estrogen in one office, we have our moments, but I absolutely LOVE working with these ladies!
A few of us headed to the Oquirrh Temple open house after dinner. It is a beautiful temple! I am so glad I was able to be with my friends in such a beautiful setting!
As we hit the reception tent Jayne and I were admiring how beautiful the color of this wall was. Jayne went over to the missionaries and asked them if they happened to know the color of the paint. They said they had never been asked that before. :) They guided us in the direction of who would know. We found the lady who had painted the wall. She proceeded to tell us the story of this wall and how she had to paint it 3 times before she got the color right. She had the paint card in the tent and was able to give us everything we needed for it. We discussed how I would like to have a wall in my bedroom this color and. . .
VIOLA. . . . I walked out of the temple with a bucket of paint.

Yes - that is a gallon of paint I am carrying! She was the sweetest lady. However I did feel awkward carrying a paint can around with me. I know everyone was looking at me and wondering what the heck! :)

Any who. . . Linds we are going to miss you and your Prom hair :) Good Luck in Vegas!

I Love being a "Great Aunt"

I have always thought the word "Great" means your old and have blue hair but NO I do not. I became a "Great Aunt" around the time I was in my early 30's which is not old! It helps that I became and Aunt at a very young age! My niece had a beautiful baby boy a week ago and of course my sisters and I had to go and see the newest member of our family. It is so much fun to see my nieces and nephews becoming parents. I am so proud of them. Little Hunter makes #5 in the great grandchild department with 2 more on the way. Can't wait for them to get here as well! Hunter- so cute
I think what is the craziest is that my brother is a Grandpa :)
